The Optimist Club of Oshawa, chartered in July 1982 continues a tradition of exceptional community service. With a “Friend of Youth” focus members of the Oshawa Club take part in activities and initiatives designed to make a positive difference in the lives of youth in our community. And make a difference they do! Whether through sponsorship of sports activities, distribution of Christmas food hampers, collections for food banks, sponsoring oratorical contestsor hosting youth appreciation week and respect for law events (to name a few), club members enhance the lives of youth in our community and make this a better place to live. People who can devote a little, or a lot of time, people who care about our youth and our community, and people who appreciate the fact that they can make a difference . Invariably club members develop new friendships and have fun along the way. The make-up of the club is a microcosm of the Oshawa community, blue collar, white collar
