Blastball
OSHAWA, August 7: For 19 years the Optimist Club of Oshawa membership have worked as partners with Neighbour Parks Association (NASC) at the annual Blast Ball softball tournaments for Youths ages 4 to 10. Over the years numerous names have been introduced by Ontario Softball Association serving as a introduction to the sports.
Orginally this program was introduced by former Oshawa president Ted Bailey (now a Whitby member) and has growing annually.
Each year the Optimist clubs supplied a BBQ supporting all the players who participated in this gala affair. The Oshawa membership have been lauded for helping this NASC event. Oshawa has 32 neighbourhood parks within the city. As a plus each player, coach and helpers receive a bonafided Oshawa Optimist meddillon as a participation award for the team play.
This year the Optimist have recruited three capable chair’s to operate this massive event. Eric Goodwin, Ronald Hele and Peter Pniauskas have accepted the challenge on behalf of the Oshawa Optimist membership.
