‘09-’10 OPTIMIST PROGRESSIVE EUCHRE KICKS-OFF IN SEVEN DAYS SEPT 14
OSHAWA, Sept 7th… It’s Labour Day the last official summer holiday weekend prior to the Optimist Progressive Euchre Club winter season for 2009 and 2010. Everyone is raring to get started for the 4th consecutive season. Our ten games start at 7:00 pm sharp at Johnny’s Original Eatery located at 850 King St. West within the King/Thornton Plaza.
Each season we’ve had a mammoth attendance increase. That’s how popular this Monday night showcase has become. Three years ago we started with only 3 tables of four player and now this popular fund raiser produces twenty tables. Certainly it a great place to meet new friends.. playing cards in a relaxed setting.
Prizes will be supplied to the top player of the evening, for the most lone hands, 50/50 draw plus tons of prizes. Last spring at our closing night of cards each members received a FREE steak dinner with all the trimmings . We had an all expenses paid lucky trip draw for four to Myrtle Beach won by Jim McFater. His group are departing this month for a week of R&R and golf. Last April George Hagerty was crowned the best players and veteran Ronald (Elbows) Hele claimed his second back to back crown recording the most lone hands.
The main purpose and only purpose of Optimist Monday Nite Euchre is to have FUN geared towards enjoyment.
Everyone is a winner with all proceeds going directly to support Youth Events operated tear around by the Optimist Club of Oshawa members. Admission is just $10.00 and includes a delicious lunch supplied by owner/operator Johnny Milosh while Pat “Baba” Passfield and Margaret Conway always have superb deserts including their famous home made butter tarts and cake.
Bring out your friends it’s a guaranted night of entertainment geared towards FUN FIRST.
