BAMBER FLEXES MUSCLES, PAT BROOKS HAS OFF NITE

Oshawa, Oct 20. …..Hardy Greg Bamber had a worried look all night but it didn’t stop him from claiming first place with 79 points, three more than the improving Geo. Hagerty as the Monday nite Optimist Euchre returned from a Thanksgiving break at Johnny’s Orginial Eatery.
Bamber whose wife Jackie enters Toronto General  Hospital on Tues. Oct 21 for major surgery figures it was good night to stop worrying about his domestic problems.He posted a nifty 79 points topping the leaderboard with a pair of timely lone hands during his three double digit games. One was a13 point effort teaming up with Kevin Woodcock while collecting 11 points each  being partnered with Bob Blair and Ron Hele.
His wife Jackie finished in 20th deadlocked with Norma Hubbell each with 56 points.
Fast improving George Hagerty continues his steady improvement scoring 76 points to place second. It’s just a matter of time before he returns as a major pace-setter after a slow start. Donna Flammino and Frank J. Kavanagh each
registered 74 points apiece tied for 3rd place.
Ron ”Elbows” Hele claimed his second consecutive most lone hands. For his
Oct. 20 effort, he wins his second straight bottle of Optimist produced Napa Valley of white wine. At intermission, he took home his first bottle, as a Mexician standoff prevailed from the Oct 6th Euchre showcase. He outduel Frank J. Kavanaugh to determine the victor.  Both had 5 LH’s each two weeks prior.
A special “Optimist Welcome Back” with first time appearance this year to Ilsie
Gilchrist, Bob Blair and Rollie Normand. It was great to see you guys again.
