His name is pronounced KAP-U-SHINT-SKI (heck that’s a simple Irish name) but if that’s your hang-up he’ll answer to TED. A retired Durham Region board of education employee was introduced to Opti-Euchre by his friend and fellow “Ukie” David Debosky. Last Wednesday (Jan 6) after celebrating Ukranian Christmas Debosky convinced him of the coming out for a night of fun and cards.
“The unexpeced windfall was great, but meeting the Optimist members and friends was important to me” remarked Kapper – everyone made me feel welcome – and that’s the important thing” he continued. Mr.’K’s’ collected 79 points covering his ten games including a trioka of double digits victories playing with his talented partners the hubby-wife Brook’s Pat and John along with Gord Johnson. At year’s end a special prize is awarded to the winner. To qualifty a player must appear in 75% of the scheduled games. This is the only fair way to declare the overall best player. By employing the 75% rule, this still allows time off for winter vacations and illness. Defending champ George Hagerty won a $100.00 gift card from Wal*Mart SuperCentre. He refused the price and donated it back to Optimist Club of Oshawa for their ongoing mandate helping the Youth of Oshawa.
