FROM THE PENTHOUSE TO THE OUTHOUSE FOR OPTIMIST RAFFLE SALES AT 5 POINTS MALL

November 8, 2009

OSHAWA, Nov 8: What a difference a few days can make in the Optimist Club of Oshawa Car Raffle Sales. Coming off a great 10 days of sales at the Bowmanville Metro Store (3 days) followed by 7 super sales days at the Oshawa Centre  the four days spent at the Five Points Mall from Nov. 4th thru the 7th proved to be a downer for our sales staff.
Covering the 40 hour alloted sales time results proved to be $760.00 in net sales.  Seems the bleak results can be directed to  the local  economy crisis occuring in Oshawa these days. Taking a closer look at the sales report – it works to be $19.00 in sales per hour or only 4 tickets being  sold covering  a 60 minute period average.
The Optimist Sales team tried however nothing seem to work to entice sales. Low attendance at the Mall can be described as the main reason.
Special thanks to our trusty volunteers Ron Hele, Peter Pniauskas, Sybil Dewhurst, Stephen Hambley, Greg Bamber, Eric Goodwin, Walter Lamers and Jim Shaw for hanging in. Newcomer Dewhust was impressive in her selling efforts. She’s planning to become an Oshawa Optimist Club member. Prior she was one of the main driving forces with the Optimist Carbinean movement prior to  moving to Canada.

Sales contiinue this week at the Walmart Super Centre located at Laval and Stevenson Rd in Oshawa South just north of the 401 highway. Our staff will operate sales on Fri, Nov 13, Sat. Nov 14 and Sun. Nov 15 from 11 am to 6:00 pm.   Volunteers are requested to contact car raffle coordinator Jim Shaw for work dates  and time alloted schedule.
