Chair Ann Doyle’s Happy, Optimist Raise $1k, Want $2k
Oshawa .. It required 85 loyal volunteer selling hours at the week long Hockey Raffle Blitz at the Five-Points Mall topping the Gross Sales at just over $1,000.00 in aid of the 24th annual Food Hamper/Toy Drive scheduled for December 16th. It certainly was a “eye opener” remarked chair person Optimist Ann Doyle. Working with Youth projects is our mandate at the 5-Points Mall customers certainly responded. Doyle herself donated 31 hours of the 85 hours worked by her volunteer group. Other helpers included club President Stephen Hambley, Marg Ross, Carol Sargent, Jim Shaw and a friend of the Optimist movement Neil Metcalfe.
Doyle is planning a second blitz at the mall one week prior to the official winner is announced on February lst. She has designated Friday, Jan. 25, Saturday Jan 26 and Sunday Jan 27 her final major sales days. Prior public sales will be held at Euchre on Dec.3,10,17, Bingo on Dec. 8,22 Optimist/Wado Kai Tournament Day Dec 15 and Food Hamper and Toy delivery day set for Dec 16th.
Her ambitious program has the possibility of reaching $2,000.00 in gross sales. The raffle packing includes the following.
(A) Ten Game Tickets at the GM Centre Box with a hostess. Game time is 6:05 pm
(B) Ten Dinners – at Johnny’s Restaurant 850 King St. W. Oshawa at 5:00 pm (Sharp) prior to the
game
(C) Parking pass for your vehicle.
(D) Cash Bar with Hostess.
Tickets are available from any Club Member at $2.00 each, 3 for $5.00 or a book for $10.00. All Club members are selling tickets. All profits go directly towards Youth Projects in Oshawa.
