FLAMMINO WINS, FIVE JOIN “EXCULSIVE 500 POINTS CLUB”
Oshawa. Nov. 10.. It was a milestone night for numerous Optimist Optimist Monday Night Progressive Club players. Playing at the cosy Johnny’s Original Eatery located within the King/Thornton Plaza – ace player Donna Flammino became the first repeat winner in the most points scoring category having 84. Her initial triumph came on opening night Sept 15th, registering 88 points. She now has compiled 509 points in 7 gamesplayed for a Y.T.D. percentage average of .727%. Donna is like the airplane 727 she’s flying highall season long. Flammino registered four double digits rounds scoring 12 points while teaming up with Miles Richardson and Bob Blair another 13 points with newcomer Emile LeBlanc, in her last game toiling along side Kenny “Story Teller” Ferrill with 15 points.Flammino kicked in apair of lone hands on the night for good
Right on her heals was Ferrill just one point less at 83, plus 3 lone hands. It was his highest score in three years. Speaking of the old “Story Teller” he was like kid on Christmas morning registering back to back50/50 jackpot victories. This time he pocketed a record high of $56.00. He immediately donated $31.00 back to Euchre sponsors the Optimist Club of Oshawa Inc for their 25th annual Xmas Hamper & Toy scheduled for Dec. 21st delivery. A generous and sincere man, Ferrill earlier in the day had made his annual $100.00 donation for the same cause. He’s not only a die-hearted Euchre player – he’s a avid volunteer at the Optimist Food Drive/Toy drive. This is the 25th consecutive year the Optimist Club of Oshawa members have been operating this important event working in conjunction with the Salvation Army aiding 100 needy local families.
The first to join the select “500 point” group were first place holder Frank J. Kavanaugh, with a YTD points of 561 followed by – George Hagerty YTD of 552 points, Pat Brooks YTD of 534 points, Donna Flammino YTD 509 points while Ron Hele is just jumped over the hump with 503 points. A two way tie for the “most lone hands” prevailed as Pat Brooks and Johnny Milosh each posted five duplicate efforts. A special saw-off-draw is planned for Nov 17th to break the deadlock..
