GARY & MARY FOSSUM STEAL OPTIMIST EUCHRE SPOTLIGHT

Oshawa, Nov 17: – This week, the dymantic husband and wife combinationcomprised of Mary and Gary Fossum stoled the headlines at the weekly Monday Nite’ Optimist Progressive Euchre nite at Johnny’s Original Eatery.

You couldn’t renovethe smile from Mary’s face as she recorded his first every Lone Hand. It was an “awesome feeling” as she replayed her master-piece effort to every one within ear shot. This historic event happen during in the fifth round of her 7th game. You would have though she had just captured the “649″ grand-prize.

Meanwhile her hubby was just as “lucky”. He won the 50/50 draw. He immediately
deposited $51.00 into his bank account.Guess who pulled the winning ticket – Hmmm …his wife Mary… thats who. After nine weeks of play, the Fossum have won twice each. Mary recorded back
to back windfalls on Sept 15 and 22. Previously Gary won his initial draw on Oct. 06.
Overall the Fossum’s have collected $193.50 Y.T.D.

Brian Trembley, a Passport office supervisor in Whitby captured the overall most points compiling 86 pts. For the second consecutive week Kenny Ferrill place 2nd a bridesmaid again. He scored 84 points.John Brooks showed tremendous improved from the week previous jumping 14 points placing deadlocked with steady Eloi Dalcourt each with 80 points. Jay Kimble turned in her best effort of the year with a brilliant 76 points. Trembley’s march to victory included a pair of double digit wins. He scored 12 points game’s teaming up with newcomer Victoria Nguyen and Kenny (Story Teller) Ferrill.

Meanwhile John Brooks fresh from his last Friday’s S.R.O. retirement party was awesome’ after a quiet start for him this Euchre season. “Brooker” was hot as a fire cracker scoring six lone hands.

Brian Trembley followed with five while Margaret Conway and Kenny Ferrill had four apiece. Optimist Monday Nite Euchre coordinator Jimmy Shaw announced cards will closed down for two weeks for it’s annual Christmas break. Remaining scheduled Monday dates in 2008 include next Monday Nov 24 followed by Dec, 1st, 8th and 15. Play will resume on January 05, 2009, The Dec 15th date has been designated as “Xmas Turkey Roll Nite” It’s your chance to win one of three Christmas Birds courtesy of the Optimist Club of Oshawa membership.
