GENTLE BEN & MIGHTY MARG TOP EUCHRE LEADERBOARD

Oshawa, Sept 29…. Gentle Ben Pellerin didn’t realize the Optimist Club of Oshawa members had already starting Monday Nite Euchre for the ‘08-’09 season until he read the posted poster while enjoying his favourite meal at Johnny’s Eatery on the weekend. He played briefly and enjoyed Euchre with his wife Rita. Both appeared on Monday making up for lost time. “I wish we known about this earlier” smile Rita who registered 56 points.

As a result popular gentle Ben cashed in posting 87 points claiming top honours against 31 other players. He captured the “Most Points” for his superb effort collecting $20.00 in cold hard Optimist cash.
Enroute to the top rung he scored four impressive lone hands plus recording double digit victories including mammoth 19 points with partner Margaret Conway. Oddity Conway finished just two points back of pace-setter Pellerin. She topped all individuals with most lone hands scoring five. She wins a bottle of Optimist Napa Valley Wine. “Heck I don’t drink” remarked Marg. Immediately her hubby David who placed 3rd overall with 79 said he would enjoy the fruits of her effort.

Veterans top point makers all checked in with below normal scores for them. Miles Richardson had 59, John Brooks scored 58, while Greg Bamber 57 and Ron Hele each finished up with 57 points

Thompson’s 50th Wedding Anniversary Pniauskas Retires – Ferrill Feeling Better
Latest report from Optimist Euchre players file. Audrey & John Thompson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the weekend. For entertainmentenjoyment the couple spent Saturday night with fellow Euchre player Neil Metcalfe and event chair Marg Ross Audrey’s sister). According to Margie both Audrey and John both excel in the Newfie style of dancing……

Meanwhile Peter Pniauskas announced his retirement from Sobey’s Grocery chain late last week. Pistol “Pete” was talking proud announcing he could now officially join the other OPTIMIST EUCHRE SENIORS officially…..The Thompson’s and Pistol Pete where presented with aspecial prepared
Optimist cake which they shared among their peers…..

Meanwhile another Euchre stickout Ken “Story Teller” Ferrill remains in Lakeridge Health (OGH) recovering from severe surgery. He entered OGH on Friday, Sept 19. He’s now in his 12th day. Hopefully he’ll be heading home soon. Ferrill is a “Gamer” and refuses to give-up….. Optimist President-electPetrina Perrineau was in attendance. She assumes her new job to-morrow (Oct lst) officially being inducted by Governor Brian Wick. PS… She had a lone hand and scored a “cool” 46 points.
