J.J.H, Events Burn Defending Champs The Oshawa Optimist Club
Oshawa, Nov 17.. J.J.H. Events represented by Jody Hewett and associates – one of seven new entries at the Durham Region Police Services (D.R.P.S) where crowned the 2007 Chilli
Cook-off champions held at the G.L.Roberts Community Centre. The customers donated over
$400.00 in this charity function and had the opportunity to taste eleven different types of Chili
cooked from the stoves of the defending champion Oshawa Optimist Club, Price
Chopper Food Store on Wentworth,The Bulldog Pub,South Oshawa-Community Policing Partners, Oshawa Fire Hall #2, South,Oshawa Community Health Centre, 7-Eleven Wenthworth Store, Durham Region Labour Council entered 3 teams, Chilli Tee’s, Wendy’s Just Beans and the Stone’s Throw Pub. The voting was accomplished by ballot from the individuals who purchased the product.”Actually every entry was a winner”said event coordinator Nancy Rogers and D.R.P.S. volunteer. Proceeds from this worthy community event was two South Oshawa Food Banks – St.Peter’s Anglican Church and St. Phillips Catholic Church.
Optimist Ann Doyle and last year’s club president Susan Machnik captured the laurels in the ‘06. Machnik was unable to attend. She was away on vacation in Las Vegas, Nev while Doyle was bed ridden was a nasty case of the flu. Reliable Optimist veteran’s Optimist’s Mollie Olynik-Dryson and hubby Optimist Joe Dryson represented our club,-but related they had stiff in the friendly competition
Customers brought along Non-perishable Food Product. Our membership donated a case of Kraft Dinner.
