Mr. MM DOES IT AGAIN
OSHAWA- Feb 11th….Eric (Money Man) Goodwin is considering requesting that the Optimist Club of Oshawa Members Weekly Monday Night Euchre Club open up direct desposit for his winnings.Seems nobody really notices the 53 year GM retiring due to his quiet nature conducting his business. Most card players don’t realize he’s even in the room at Johnny’s Orginal Eatery. Their is no limit to his talents however. Know in Euchre circles with his official nickname as The “MM” man. His finanicial growth increased another $20.00 after capturing first place among the 24 players,on Monday,Feb 11th.Weekly he walks in iquietly un-noticed and departs with little or no fanfare.
A soft spoken individual of few words he walked out Monday not realizing he had captured first place and a prize board of $20.00. That’s how unassuming he appears.He had posted a nifty 77 overall points, posting two lone hands resulting in a YTD total of 15 in 10 games played. Normally a constant winner in the 50/50 jackpot department, having won 4 times this year. His local bank manager expects him every Tuesday morning with another deposit. It’s the bank who suggested the direct deposit gig. He has temporarly lost his drivers license due to a stroke He’s forced to walk each Monday to Euchre. A likeable person once you establish a relationship with has grossed $205.00 in winnings this year.
To-date, he’s never one an individual points award prior.A email and telephone call was placed informing him of the good fortune (AGAIN).Goodwin has recorded 632 YTD points boasting a sharp.632%. Unfortunely he won’t qualifty for $100.00 prize at year’s end. Eric has played 10 games YTD and with 8 games remaining he won’t qualifty for the big jackport of $100.00 set for April 7th.All players have appear and play in 19 games of the Optimist 27 game schedule. The schedule will be completed April 7th with everyone in attendance regardless of the games played being treated to our annual Optimist Steak Dinner courtsey of the Optimist Club of Oshawa for their players loyal friendship and support.
Milosh Joins 1,000 Point Club …..
Just back from a week-long Nevada golfing trip in Neveda Johnny Milosh has added his name to the select group to the 1,000 point club. This select group now stands at a dozen. He placed third overall with 73 points, giving him a YTD total of 1065.He captured four lone hands tops in that department for the evening allowing his while pocketonged $10.00. He joins this select group including current leader George Hagerty 1,287 points,Pat Brooks 1,273,John Brooks 1,267,Peter Pniauskas 1,159, Miles Richardson 1,139, Marg Conway 1,135,Neil Metcalfe 1,123,Ron Hele 1,108,Pat Passfield 1,085 and Ken Ferrill 1,029.
Donna Flammino Our Valentine Sweetheart
A suprised and happy Donna Flammino was all smiles when presented a mammoth Optimist Valentine’s Card being “Sweetheart For The Month” Collective our Progressive Euchre players inked this cards acknowledging her friendship among her peers. She’s a great lady and excellent player. Currently she’s knocking on the 1,000 point plaeteau having recorded 958 points YTD only 42 shy of this magicial mark. Donna has 21 lone hands and a percentage of .568. Mr. “Egg Salad” himself LeGros Geo. Hagerty announced it was his birthday last Saturday and accepted the cake produced by Pat Passdield (she didn’t know about it either) as his cake. After endless helpings of sandwichs (egg salad of course) the Optimist members presented him a tailored polo shirts for the B-Day party Boy. Jack Gagnon won the 50/50 jackpot for the first time claiming $30.50. A retail prize total of $92.75 was awarded.
One Hundred % Title Will Be a Showdown
Take your pick between 1 and 15. At this point of the 27 game schedule anyone can capture the pretigious $100.00 first prize in percentage points, it’s that close of a race. To qualify for our major cash prize to be awarded our final night set for Monday April 7th a player must have played and appeared in a mimimim of 19 games. Next week Feb.18th marks our 20th game of the year. For the second consecutive week our leader Peter Pnsauskas dropped 9% points to 724% and holds a slim 13% points over nearest rival Miles Richardson at 711%.Eloi Dalcourt holds third over all with 707% with Pat Brooks rounding out the 700% club at 704%.Others in the Optimist top 15 includes Geo. Hagerty 677%, Marg Conway 667%,John Brooks 666%, Ruth Bell 645%,Ken Ferrill 643%,Gus Gordon (on vacation) 633%,Johnny Milosh 626%,Donna Flammino 619%,Pat Gunter 616%,Ron Hele 615% and Bob Burtinsky 607%.
Welcome Aboard Greg Bamber & Rollie Normand
While many of veteran players are enjoying the sunshine below the boarder these cold days,our Optimist membership welcome two more newcomers to our client base. Latest to play are Rollie Normand (she help delivering at our Optimist 24th Annual Christmas Food Hampers/Toys on Dec. 16 and her friend Greg Bamber. Great to have you both aboard. Expected back for next Monday (Feb. 18th) Euchre are Jay (Lucy) Kimble and Ken (Story Teller) Ferrill from Cuba, Anne Conquer and her partner Jack Trail (Domician Republic), Eloi and Diane Dalcourt (week off). Mike Horner, Steve Hambley, David Conway and Maureen Gaglardi (work commitments) The Gordon’s (Marilyn & Gus)are still travelling Route 66 on a 40th anniversary vacation. The are expected back in early March.
